WP4 focuses on development and optimization of conjugation strategies for biomolecules on cell and material surface to modulate the innate immune response when in contact with blood. This is an essential part of the functionalization of surfaces, since any type of chemical modification alters the properties of the surface. The key objectives involved in WP4 are as follows
- Establish covalent binding techniques for binding biomolecules to material surfaces.
- Establish PEGylation techniques for functionalization of material and cell surfaces with biomolecules.
- Establish molecularly imprinted polymer systems with selectivity for biotinyl moiety-functionalized biomolecules
- Develop cell surface-specific target moieties that can be fused with soluble biomolecules for binding to material and cell surfaces.
